Affection lying deep,

It’s going to cost you,
Investing precious loot,
Your time and attention too,
A unicorn seen by you.
Delusions you sedate,
Expectations to regulate,
As unicorns don’t debate,
They stab you, a sad fate.

Rain pours on the cold sand
Droplets make the sound of a Bango Band
I listen as the clock ticks away
It’s the slow countdown to midnight
Rogue cats are fighting on my rooftop
Making evil sounds, like the ghosts of Maweni Beach
I pull my senses together as I try to keep my calm
The noise is annoying to strangers, yet a routine for me
Phone lights go out
Moonlight comes up
Mbalamwezi
Taa ya maskini
Next-door neighbour lures her infant to sleep
Her Rabai lullaby is for the harvest time
It slowly fades to a silent humming
A prayer for good fortune
We are safe at midnight.
I wana give my best to you
I wanna do what u ask me to do,
I wanna give you what’s real
I wanna serve u lord for real
For you deserve this and more
I wanna give you more
I wanna live for you more
Coz you deserve all the best
As you in my life is the best
So today i lift my hands to you
For all glory and honour belongs to you
Yes Lord…
All belongs to you my Lord
I wanna serve you some more!
Alone I know am nothing,
With your presence I amount to something,
In my weakness I stand to lose,
But you strength I can stand before all,
Walk before me Christ…
