When you Were Away

For every night
I was a goner
Your memory kept me alive
The thoughts of your smile
And what we wanted in life

Every night I was a goner
The nights were shortened
By the hope
Of our flames rekindling

Every night I was a goner
Thoughts of you
Kept me sane
Thoughts of you
Made me realize
I just wanted to stay

Every night I was a goner
Staring into the dark
Nights so silent
My only wish
If tomorrow comes
Then you shall
Be by my side

SORRY WAWUDA

Dear Beautiful one,
I write this with pain in my heart

Please forgive me

For not calling back

It has been a crazy couple of weeks

I had hit a rough patch

I always thought that I’d see you sometime

But every day turned out the same.
I now sincerely seek a second chance

For us to meet and have a dance

Under the orange sky of sunset

As we marvel at the sounds of the evening.
Please find it in your heart

To listen to my story

If it takes sending a council of elders

I’ll talk to the Chaga people from the village beyond the ridges

I will walk for a thousand miles through the woods

I will set foot in Mbale and buy their vegetables for you

I will cross the Congo River to collect beads for your necklace

I will sail to Zanzibar and get you a dera

I will it do all if you let me.

Yours truly,
Joshua.
