When you Were Away

For every night
I was a goner
Your memory kept me alive
The thoughts of your smile
And what we wanted in life

Every night I was a goner
The nights were shortened
By the hope
Of our flames rekindling

Every night I was a goner
Thoughts of you
Kept me sane
Thoughts of you
Made me realize
I just wanted to stay

Every night I was a goner
Staring into the dark
Nights so silent
My only wish
If tomorrow comes
Then you shall
Be by my side

Our Own Makings

by ndegwabryan

Have you ever felt like the world is eating you up,
Like whenever you take a step for success
you get shot down

Have u ever felt like people just don’t love you anymore
Like whenever you smile at them
they will find a way to stab your back

Have you ever felt alone, locked up with your own emotions,
Like whenever you open your circle of trust,
there will always be something sucking the air out of your circle

Have you ever felt alone in this world,
Like whenever you sit down and look around all you see is nothing but your own image

Have you ever given time to people that don’t care,
Or maybe you gave people that don’t care your time
Or maybe they just never cared about you.

Maybe we are all the same – one way or another –
Maybe the difference between all of us is the way we approach someone
May it be with love or hate
we all wanna be part of somebody’s life

Maybe we all have the same problems but the way we solve them brings a difference
the way we hide them brings different consequences
but all in all we are all the same

We are just playing the same game but we choose our own tactics

Sun Rise

The yellow-like embers,
Of the morning rays,
Shone on my forehead.
And like a gadget button,
My lips spread like basin trays and my eyes glowed.

A warm feeling, overwhelmed my heart.
I giggled like a small kid, who successfully stole a candy from the mad stingy Mandy.
I was vibrating with positive energy.

The sun rose,
Rose with hopes, I could smell it, like a rose flower.
But alas! My shadow was black and dark and barking in my mind.
The front was luminous, I looked at the front,
The shadow had regrets and ifs.
The front had determination.
Choose your side wisely.
Shadows or fronts.

REBIRTH

Sudden rebirth

Stunning real earth

Leaves fall and leave me

Am left but a branch…the real me

Am stretching out for growth.
From the ground I rise,

To all around I apraise,

All that witness these shall praise,

As its my turn to shine,

To realy step up and step out.
Into the limelight I come,

Shunning the moonlight I wnt,

Beneath the clouds I walk,

I think aloud…

Thoughts clearer than water

I am mother natures daughter!
Into this new life,

I choose my new path,

I set my own rules,

I pick my damn fights,

As I know all is right,

Just to show my presence.
I laugh louder..

I smile wider…

I love deeper…

I forgive quicker…

And write more…

Until when my ink will be no more!
So till such time comes,

My pen I shall wield,

Upon my paper it to kiss,

My new beginnings all to write,

Page after page to open,

My new chapter I shall fill.
With blood if i have to…

In my sweat too I will..

In a bid to leave a positive mark…

I shall do all that I can

My voice to surpus mountain peak

Thus i forever shall speak

My rebirth for all it is,to spread the love and joy.

UNTITLED…Phy Lo

If at the prime of my life,
Time should prime its gun,
If the winds of change came
To wheel my pains in my gain
And remain in patience , passion not pain
Once this heart harboured hut of love,
Just like rays from sun above,
Your image used to appear in my mind,
Whereas you shone,
Storms of emotions conjured conflicts,
Clouds of mystery ploughed my being.

In the midsts of mist,
Found pathetic regards to me,
As you once shone on me,
I beseech thou to get a grip,
Earnestly my love to you I gave,
To a depth where breath succumbed to breathless,
I implore thy,
To employ your utmost feeling,
If maybe I lost you or to,
I may deplorably lose my mind too.

LOST LOVE….

image

When I met you…
I followed you like an ewe
Like a tuareg in the desert i thirsted for your company
It would be painfull when my heart you’d desert
I would be hurt
I would feel like dirt
For mine would be a hurt heart

Be mine and i wont deny
Let your feelings align and we wont curve our heart’s line
Its you i love
You are pure like a dove
All i would have is your love
I met you when your hug was my drug
Am an addict
Am a crave
Am a desire
For you make me feel so
My heart is cold like snow
Only the lord know
That it cut me like a saw on wood
I love you and i still do

I don’t call it lost ,maybe it blossomed
Silence my enemy, it made me catch an allergy
In me you own a place,my heart’s clergy

I REFRAIN….Phill Ibsen-Kenya. Heart-Art-Poetics

image

Today I shall refrain,
Refrain and let live in my remains,
To write something dadyful or fatherful,
‘Cause you’ve always hated things colourful,
But hey, its daddy’s day.

Today I shall refrain,
Refrain from writing of daddy issues,
For you’ll fold these into paper tissues,
For not my words can accelerate,
Nor implicate the wrath of your blows on my cheeks,
But hey, still living in a slum,
Its daddy’s day.

Today I shall refrain,
Refrain from wishing that I knew you,
Or from praying that father so n so should be you,
I’m gonna erase all that,
And begin a new!

Today I shall refrain not from remembering,
Refrain from asking God,
“Why’d you give Me a dad only to take him?”
Today I shall remember the lessons you taught me,
“Son, the world is a bitter place for orphans, you better man up before I’m gone”
Today I remember that you loved me,
Still you do,
I love you right back.

MOTHER…By Ndiang’ui

image

MOTHER
She is a pillar of balance,
With a pot on her head,
And baby in her hand,
She never disappoints.

She is the symbol of beauty,
Ten children down the line,
One more in her belly,
Still holds he head high.

She is the mark of honour,
Under a hail of drunken blows,
Raises not a finger,
Stirs the pot and smiles.

She is a shower of hope,
Sees back into the days of joy,
Dreams of the new dawn,
Of plenty and more; she lives on,

She is a dream,
She is the sun,
She is the rain,
Rises to all occasions.
